Ipswich's Most Iconic Tower Set to Open

ICON Ipswich developers, Leighton Properties and Ipswich City Properties, mark the completion of the 117 Brisbane Street tower with an official opening celebration on Tuesday, 26 November.

Minister for Housing and Public Works, Tim Mander MP will unveil the latest development to be opened in Ipswich alongside Ipswich City Council Mayor, Paul Pisasale.

Minister for Housing and Public Works Tim Mander MP said the opening of ICON Ipswich signaled the start of an exciting transformation for the city of Ipswich and will also diversify the workforce in south-east Queensland.

“ICON Ipswich will be the Ipswich home of 10 government departments including Justice and Attorney General, Education, Housing and Public Works, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and Multicultural Affairs, Environment and Natural Resources and Mines and will also be the head office of SEQ Water.”

Ipswich City Council Mayor, Paul Pisasale said “The opening of ICON Ipswich is the first stage in the once in a generation revitalisation of Ipswich Central.

“It will provide critical economic and social stimulus, enabling people to enjoy a great lifestyle locally.

“The success of this project is testament not only to the rapidly evolving economy of Ipswich, but also the strong delivery capability of the joint venture partners Leighton Properties and Ipswich City Properties.”

Leighton Properties QLD General Manager, Brian McGuckin, said “The ICON Ipswich development is in-line with our national strategy to pre-sell, pre-lease and deliver a project within time and budget.

Paul Tully, Chairman of Ipswich City Properties Pty Ltd, said “The opening of ICON Ipswich marks a significant milestone for Ipswich – not only does it play a part in positioning Ipswich Central as the major retail and commercial centre servicing the western corridor, it will also act as a source of economic growth for the region and provide a vibrant, new destination for locals and visitors with its ground level retail."

Located on the corner of Brisbane and Bell Streets, ICON Ipswich is an A-Grade tower with over 16,000sqm of commercial space across nine levels. The $93 million building will also offer a mix of retail including a nationally recognised IPN Medical Centre, The Coffee Club, Sushi ICON and a Kebab operator.
